The mission of West Central Technical College, in the area of security, is to maintain the public peace and safety and to safeguard the assets of the college, its faculty, staff, student, and visitors to assist in providing an environment conducive to the teaching and public service mission of West Central Technical College.

It is extremely important for anyone witnessing a crime on campus to report it immediately to the proper individual.  The Program Managers and administratively responsible personnel are located in the Administrative Offices at each campus.  At the Carrollton Campus the Administrative Offices are located in Building 1.  At the Douglasville Campus and Murphy Campus the Administrative Offices are located in Building A.  The Administrative Offices are located off the main lobby at the Central Education Center.

Drug Free Campus

West Central Technical College prohibits the unlawful possession, manufacture, distribution, dispensation and use of illicit drugs and alcohol on the college’s premises in accordance with the Drug-Free Communities and School Act Amendments of 1989 (Public Law 101-226).  Should a student be found in violation of the law, he/she will be referred to the Vice President of Instruction.  If the student is under the age 18, the parents will be informed.  In all circumstances, the local authorities will be informed.  The student will also be subject to dismissal from the college.

West Central Technical College will provide the student, faculty, or staff with referral services to help with a dependency problem.  This service is handled in a confidential manner.  For further information contact the Vice President of Student Affairs at 770-537-5729.

Possession of Weapons

It is unlawful for an individual to bring to, possess, or have under such person’s control, any explosive compound, firearm, or knife designed for the purpose of offense or defense at a public gathering (O.C.G.A. 16-11-127).  Any student, employee, or other person found in violation of this policy will be reported to the local law enforcement officials and be subject to dismissal.

The Student Right to Know – Campus Security Act

Public Law 101-542 is a consumer protection measure that requires the disclosure of certain campus statistics to students and employees.  In compliance with the legislation, Georgia’s technical institutes and colleges will provide statistics for all current and prospective students and employees concerning the occurrence of campus crime, including the following:

  • Murder
  • Rape
  • Robbery
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Burglary
  • Motor Vehicle Theft
  • Liquor Law Violations
  • Drug Abuse Violations
  • Weapons Possessions
