National League of Nursing for Registered Nurses

Admission to West Central Tech’s RN Program involves a competitive process. The process includes a standardized examination developed by the National League for Nursing (NLN) for students seeking admittance into nursing schools nationwide.  The exam has three sections: verbal skills, mathematics, and science.

This is a three (3) hour timed exam; an hour is allotted for each section.
          
A review guide is available in the WCTC Bookstore located on the Murphy Campus.  A copy is available for intra-library use on the Murphy campus.  The book provides an overview of the verbal, math, and science content necessary for admission to RN program.

• Beginning July 2007, the cost of the National League of Nurses (NLN) Exam will be $75.00 (NON REFUNDABLE).

• Effective Jan 1, 2008:

  - All “No Shows” will be required to pay the full $75 fee before being confirmed for the next exam date. There are no exceptions.

  - If you need to reschedule your exam date you must call our office at least 1 week prior to your scheduled exam. You will be required to pay a $25 administrative fee for all rescheduling requests.

  - If you fail to call our office, you will be required to pay the full amount of $75 before you are confirmed for a new exam date.

• Students MUST contact Continuing Education at 770-537-7942 to secure a spot on the testing roster. This is done by paying the fee for the exam at any one of our four campuses and getting a receipt to serve as a “ticket” into the testing area. You must then call our office with your receipt number to confirm your registration. Your receipt MUST also be shown along with a valid picture ID on the exam day.

• There are NO refunds.

• If you wish to take the exam again, you must follow the same instructions outlined in steps 1-4.

• Unless otherwise posted, the test is only offered on the Murphy Campus in Waco and once each quarter except for winter.  The test will be offered two (2) times during the Winter Quarter. 

• The test begins promptly at 5:30 pm.

• PLEASE DO NOT BE LATE!  Students will not be allowed to enter the exam once the test begins. 

• You will need #2 pencils.

• You may also wish to bring a jacket or blanket, as the testing area is often very cool.

• Test reports are shipped to you and takes about 10-14 days.

West Central Technical College reserves the right to cancel or reschedule tests in the event that a class does not meet minimum enrollment requirement.
